The Play-by-Play
Victorious, humbled

First off, I’ll apologize for taking so long to post to the Loaf-Off 2006 website. I was unaware that, after winning a competition as prestigious as Loaf-Off, there would be so many responsibilities- the parades, the meet-and-greets, the grip-and-grins, the speaking engagements, the private cooking lessons I’m supposed to offer…
They’re all taking up more time than I expected, but such is the life of a Loaf-Off winner.
Bitter, agonizing defeat.

That sums up my experience with Loaf-Off 2006. Sometimes you just gotta suck it up and admit that no matter how much money you left tucked under the judges’ napkins they will still turn on you the fun is in the competition and not the winning. Here’s my take on yesterday’s events.

After doing a little reconnaissance I discovered that my competition, Atom, is now looking up new recipes online. A last minute recipe switch! Sadly, there’s nothing in the rules that prevents this.

Like all great competitors, Rich and I attended a church service prior to today’s opening ceremonies. It was a quiet moment of reflection before the chaos of the actual competition begins.

Let’s be honest here, guys. The web is a remarkable thing. Seriously, we love what we do here and we love to take on projects that help people take advantage of all the web has to offer. But, quite frankly, we love competition and building online monuments to the absurd just as much as the next guy. So, with that in mind… Little Thinky’s first annual Loaf-Off!
